David is co-founder and manages the day-to-day affairs of the African Business Angel Network (ABAN), a pan African non-profit association founded to support the development of early stage investor networks and to get many more investors excited about the opportunities in Africa. David also manages Stichting IGNITE, a non-profit supporting entrepreneurs in conflict affected countries via direct and indirect financing and he sits on the investment committee of the IGNITE Fund. He also continues to manage the Mentorship Program for online funding platform VC4Africa, an organisation he helped build over the past years. Prior getting involved in the early stage investing space David worked for Danish firm Maersk managing shipping and logistics companies in emerging markets in North and West Africa, Russia and the former CIS, India as well as in the USA. David holds degrees in economics and international affairs from the University of Oregon, Nijenrode, the Vrije Universiteit and Clingendael, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations.
